I usually start of the tournament tight and aggressive with a goal of at least doubling up before first break. This has worked for me but the trouble I am having is when to switch gears.
I have tried getting a little more agressive in the next few rounds and have found that I get in trouble and bust early or I have tried the tight agressive through out and find I can't build a stack big enough to compete in the later rounds and usually finish just out of the money.
What is your strategy?

I think you do have to be more aggressive when the blinds go up. That's when stealing the blinds becomes worth the while.
Also if you notice, a lot of people will become real tight at that point of the game. I think you can take advantage of those people because a lot of them just want to make the money.
I'd try to play positon more than the cards. If your going to enter a pot you need to be the first one in and you need to raise.

NOTICE?? I am one of them
It's my aggression that is my problem. I am not aggressive enough or too aggressive in the wrong spots. Mostly the first one.
I am overhauling what little MTT strategy I have and going to play some freerolls to solidify it. Maybe freerolls are not the best platform to test but I should get a good idea of how it is working.
Any other advice?

In mid-trounament play you want to be around for as long as you can. BUT you cannot tighten up all together. Many people play much too tight and then they get short stacked very quickly. Being the aggresor really really pays. Stealing blinds and making big bets even if you have not hit are a must!
